John Grisham has written his first work of non-fiction, a tragic tale
of a man with bipolar disorder who's sentenced to death row for a
crime he didn't commit.

This really disturbs me, as the bipolar disorder community is so
vulnerable to things like this.

From what I've read (In the book "Crazy) like 1/4 of the prison population is mentally ill.
I'm extremely thankful for people like you who bring this sort of thing to light.

thanks for this excerpt and comments---I am so much in agreement with you concerning our vulnerability to such things.
most likely the the book will be optioned and we will see a film. i can only hope it will not portray him or his illness in a negative manner. i can only hope, instead, it will open some eyes. and even moreso anger people that this continues to go on. yes, he was wrongfully convicted and that is tragic. just as tragic would be that he and many other mentally ill women and men in prison are not treated. this needs to change. even though i'm not a grisham fan, millions of people read his work, this could be a good thing, or a really bad thing. let's hope for the best.
I agree that we don't need any more bad press. I hate when someone commits a crime and the first thing that the media has to say is that he/she is bipolar or has a history of mental illness.
