Supplement Questions

Hey All – looking for some input here. I had a cold hit me Saturday, and I’ve been miserable since then. It feels like some flu is at work also. I went out over lunch and picked up some vitamin C and zinc, but I’m not sure about the right dosages. The C I’m thinking 500 mg every 2 hours, and the zinc 50 mg every 2 hours. For those “in the know” about supplements, I’d appreciate your input.

Also, on my last pdoc visit, the doc told me about chromium. How it can help glucose metabolism, cholesterol metabolism, aid in weight loss, and so forth. Has anyone used this before? I just started taking 200 mg a day, and wondering if that’s a good dosage.

based on the ingredient list, select all that apply:

a. shaken, not stirred
b. found at a meth lab
c. the next fuel cell
d. C6H8O6+Zn+Cr-C6H12O6=C27H46O

how can this be good?

In the 90s I used chromium picolinate (sp) and lost tons of weight with it. Problem I had with it was it made me really nervous, kinda like speed & made me smoke more. If it doesn't have that effect on you, or if that doesn't bother you, then go for it.
I bought it in a little bottle & you'd put drops from that into water or juice. I tried to find the brand I used, but couldn't.
It will give you a metallic taste in your mouth.

I asked my pdoc about omega-3 and he said yes it does seem to help. So, I'm taking Fish Oil capsules. When I run out, I'll buy the "enteric". Burping dead fish odor is a drag.

Thanks all.

Txandi - I missed you. And in your unique way I agree with the point you're making.

Jane - So far with all the supplements I've been taking, I can't tell the Chronium from the others. But I am losing weight...

Lee - It's funny, that's exactly what I was worrying about as I was looking at those the other day standing in the supplement aisle at Walmart. I'm glad you mentioned that.
