You have found the RIGHT Person for this post!
1. Simply The Best! - Tina Turner
2. Madonna's First Album - Holiday, Borderline, Physical Attraction, and so on. Actually her new CD "Hung Up" is awesome.
3. Any Donna Summer - Hot stuff, Bad girl, Last Dance, and so on..
4. Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson.
5. Anything from the 70's or 80's because these era's was the Disco Dancing era that really was the best Dance Music of all time.
6. Even some music from the music Grease (50's) because they are fast and upbeat.
7. Latin Music
I could go on and on and on...
Mika-Love Today, Lollipop, and Grace Kelly
Brad Walsh-Available and Do It In The Streets
Lily Allen-LDN
I am sure I will think of more, but those are the songs that seem to get me going right now.
Every time I need to clean up the house, I put Brad Walsh on. And I sing real loud with him at the top of my voice. And I tell anyone who will listen - yep, that's my son!
www.bradwalsh.com
DW - Thanks for your input. I don't have any Tina Turner solo, that would be a good addition. I don't have much disco, but I do, of course, have some Michael Jackson. I'll have to rip some more of my old stuff. As far as latin, I do have quite a bit, especially as it crosses over into other genres such as Tex Mex.
Stacy - I'm not familiar with any you list - yet. I'm going to search them up though. The exception is as below...
AM - I dig it! Unfortunately he's not included in the music subscription service I use, eMusic, but I may have to grab some of his stuff anyway.
Thanks, all, keep them coming!
I got Brad's stuff off of Napster:-)
BTW, missing all of my old blogging buddies....
"To Be A Lover" by Billy Idol...good stuff!!!
P.S. -- if you don't have it, tell me here and I will email you the file. ;-)
Ahhh...I've learned this through trial and error at the gym on my ipod. You know what works the best for me? Songs from "Jock Jams" CD's.
They're popular because they get crowds of sports fans - auditoriums - GOING!!! Their hearts pummping, screaming, yelling, dancing - see where I'm going with this?
My faves:
Pump Up the Volume (M/A/R/R/S)
Who Let the Dogs Out (Baha Men)
Get Ready for This! (2 Unlimited)
Whoomp! There It Is! (Tag Team)
Tootsee Roll (69 Boys)
YMCA (yes, seriously!)
I Like to Move It (Reel to Reel)
Come On and Ride It (the Train)
TubThumping (Chumbawamba)
That's just a couple....
Jock Jams ROCK - I work out so much harder and get my heart rate up a lot higher by listening to Jock Jams!
Just a thought...
KS - I hadn't thought about Jock Jams. I may have to pick up some of that. But the problem, so many of those songs I'd have to hide from my kids. If they were to find, for example, Whoomp! on my iPod, I'd never live it down!
Stacy - I wasn't sure this was my friend Stacy, I thought this might have been Anonymous Mom posting before she logged in. But how cool is that, you mention Brad Walsh, and his mom (Anonymous Mom) posts the next comment?
Ari - I do have some Billy Idol in my workout mix, Mony Mony (the live version), and Rebel Yell. But I don't have "To Be A Lover". I'd love it if you think you can email a file that large. I think Gmail will handle it - livingbipolar at gmail dot com. Thanks!
Song has been sent, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. :-)
Take care,
K.
A lot of Rockish kinda songs...I don't know if that would work for me.
When working out, I need something up beat more positive...
Like...I Want Your Sex...By George Michael! LOL!!!!!
And Turn the Beat Around - Gloria Estefan.
Ari - great tune! It's now in the mix. Thanks!
DW - that's what I have, and why I'm wanting to expand. And for upbeat, it doesn't get much more upbeat than Paul Thorn's "Joanie The Jehovah's Witness Stripper" ;-)
Well, I like Shania Twain's Up.
Carol - I have very little mainstream country, but I may have to look that one up.
all of this music is great stuff- the place I go for my treadmill workout only plays the TV- I think it is because there is variety of age groups and there are simply too many diverse tastes. I know this, because one day, they were playing rap and the guy next to me, (our age) made some disparaging remarks. From that moment on, TV only. However, I do have a treadmill here, and bounce with the best.
Smythe - Our club also has banks of TVs mounted on the wall, and from your cardio machine you can plug your headphones into audio and select any of the stations playing. They have music stations, but the quality is terrible. So for me, it's my matchbook-sized iPod shuffle.
Isn't it interesting how you mention music and bipolars LOVE to talk about it? :-) It's like we have this special connection to it...I've always thought that...
