2:30 AM

I tried to go to bed 4 hours ago, but no luck. I took a quarter of one of Kyle's Trazodone, and while pleasantly buzzed no sleep. Those are supposed to knock out anyone. I took 5 mg of Ambien with no effect, then another 5 mg. I hate to take more, so I may be blog surfing and posting all night.

I was rx the antidepressant trazodone at 50mg. for sleep and over time needed more for it to work, up to 100mg. eventually I realized it really wasn't preventing insomnia, and I tapered off of it a couple of years ago, and I slept better. When i trialed Seroquel, it is the one that is a guaranteed knock out for me to sleep. Yet, the trainwreck fog in the morning doesnt wear off [for me]until about 12-15 hrs after taking it. I do Benadryl now and that seems to work the same as the others. I'm just saying, that what my experience w insomnia, is that it's there med or no med. Some nights I was awake on any one of the meds listed above. Anyway, hopefully you'll get some rest. Ive walked several miles a day and that has been knocking me out the last 2 days.

Stephany - I have seroquel but don't take it for the reason your describe, but it does work for me. I only took 25 mg of Trazodone, so I may have to increase that to 50 and try once more. But you are right, insomnia is insomnia no matter what. And until I can shake my frame-of-mind and find the motivation to start working out again, it will probably continue.

Hang in there. Last night, I took a 25 of seroquel, and 2 benadryl--still woke up. That's what im starting to learn about this, is I actually believe when insomnia arrives [a symptom]it just has to pass like mania, and everything else. Anyway, I hope it ends for you soon.[and interestinly, today i have no trainwreck fog, which means i must be wound up as well?]who knows, though for me right now it's stress.

I have to say, stop worrying about insomnia/not sleeping. So you don't sleep, whats the big deal? If it turns into a week of no sleep THEN its a big deal, but one or two nights? Chill out, and go do something with the extra time.

"working out". yes I also think physical exercise is necessary. But not after say 7 pm if you want to sleep.

Stephany - stress related or brought on by something else, mania is mania. I hope things improve your you, also.

Mark - You're right, stress about not sleeping can tear me up. I do what I can reasonable do to sleep, then I just roll with what my current condition sends. Before my current frame-of-mind, I was working out ever day. I didn't sleep much better, but it does help me in many other ways.
